Privacy Policy
Last updated June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Golf Thing, operated by [Legal Entity Name] ("Golf Thing", "we", "us"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website and services (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information when you create an account: your name, email address, password (stored only as a hashed value), and the type of account (golfer, creator, or course operator).
- Profile information you choose to add: your city, skill level, a short bio, and, for creators, your handle, category, follower counts, and platforms.
- Inquiries and requests you submit: tee-time requests, content-shoot requests, league join requests, golf-trip requests, and course or league listing requests. These typically include your name, email, phone number, and the details of your request.
- Content you post: rounds you log, posts, comments, and any images or media you upload.
- Communications you send us, including privacy and support requests.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and the dates and times you sign in.
- Cookies. We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising cookies. See "Cookies" below.
2. How we use information
- To operate the Services and connect golfers with courses, creators, and leagues.
- To route the inquiries you submit to the relevant course, creator, or league organizer so they can respond to you.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
- To monitor, secure, and improve the Services, including measuring aggregate usage.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- With courses, creators, and league organizers when you submit an inquiry or request to them. This is the core function of the marketplace: if you ask to book a tee time, request a content shoot, or join a league, the relevant party receives your request and contact details so they can reach you.
- With service providers who host and run the Services on our behalf (for example, our cloud hosting and database provider), under obligations to protect your information.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Golf Thing, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we'll require the recipient to honor this Policy.
Some of this sharing may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at Your Privacy Choices.
4. Cookies and tracking
We use one essential, first-party session cookie so you stay signed in. It isn't used for advertising. We don't currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we'll update this Policy and your privacy choices.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, then for a reasonable period to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where retention is required by law. Inquiries you've submitted to a course or organizer may be retained by them, and may be kept by us in de-identified form.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including hashing passwords and transmitting data over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and export. Signed-in users can download a copy of their data from Your Privacy Choices.
- Delete. You can delete your account and personal data from Your Privacy Choices or by contacting us.
- Correct. You can update your profile information from your account, or request a correction.
- California residents have additional rights described in our California Privacy Notice, including the right to opt out of sharing.
8. Children's privacy
The Services aren't directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Third-party links
The Services may link to third-party sites and services we don't control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review them.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be communicated through the Services.
